West Seattle Eagles – Aerie #2643
The West Seattle Eagles has been a part of the community since 1947. West Seattle has changed a lot since then, but our mission has remained the same: We are Eagles. We are People Helping People.
Every day, our members are hard at work, improving their community and making life better for all.
If you want to make a difference in your life and the lives of those in the community, start with an organization that lives and breathes service – The Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The Birthplace of Brotherhood: How the Eagles Took Flight in Seattle
On February 6, 1898, six visionary theater owners in Seattle—John Cort, John W. Considine, Thomas J. Considine, H.L. Leavitt, Mose Goldsmith, and Arthur G. Williams—gathered at the Moran Brothers’ shipyard to resolve a musicians’ strike. What began as a practical solution sparked a deeper conversation about community and camaraderie. From that moment, the “Order of Good Things” was born, later renamed the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Their mission was bold and heartfelt: to “make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.” Touring theater troupes helped spread the message across North America, and within a decade, the Eagles grew to over 1,800 Aeries and 350,000 members.
The legacy of these six Seattle founders lives on in every act of service, every gathering, and every commitment to “People Helping People.” We’re proud to carry that torch right here in West Seattle.
For 120 years, the Fraternal Order of Eagles has been a dynamic organization working to make life a bit better for others. Be a part of something great—JOIN US!
